Dr. Konstantinos Nikolakopoulos is a Professor at the Department of Geology, University of Patras. He earned a BSc degree in Geology. PhD in Remote Sensing from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Post Doc research in the field of hyperspectral data processing. He worked in the private sector from 1998 to 2005. Greek Geological Survey (IGME) from 2005 to 2011. His areas of specialty are remote sensing and geographic information systems for geological applications. Since 2012 he is the Chairman of the Special Interest Group Geological Applications of the European Association of Remote Sensing laboratories: (http://geology.earsel.org).  He also acts as Associate Editor in European Journal of Remote Sensing.

Dr. Nikolakopoulos has been involved in R&D projects funded from organizations such as the European Union, the European Space Agency and the Ministry of Education. He has considerable experience in the area of Earth Observation, GIS and GNSS measurements. His main research interests include: geological mapping, engineering geology, risk analysis, 3D mapping and coastal area mapping. He has more than 180 publications (130 in Scopus) in peer-review journals and conference proceeding with with h index 13 and more than 900 references.

Helene Simoni works as a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff in the Department of Geology at the University of Patras. She studied History & Archaeology at the University of Athens (1990) and she holds a Master of Arts in Landscape Studies from the University of Leicester (1993) and a PhD in Urban planning with GIS from the University of Patras (2013).

She was appointed Research Fellow at the Center for Hellenic Studies of Harvard University in Washington D.C. in 2023-24. Project Title: Cracking the Code: Symbols, meanings and networks in Early Iron Age Greece; Evidence from the Stamna pottery. The quantitative approach.

As of now (October 2024), she has 35 scientific publications in collective volumes, scientific journals, and conference proceedings, and has edited 4 collective volumes.
